*Aunnie creeps in from the darkness* Don't lie...you're going to fangirl at some point. It's your favorite group of all time, let's be serious...*Fades back into the black depths*
Before you read my thoughts on both the song and the video . . . I recommend watching the new MV for yourself.
The Song
This song, the more I listen to it . . . . yes I have it on repeat as I write this post, don't judge me . . . anyways, the more I listen to it the more I love it. It's bubbly, its happy, and it just makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside while I listen to it. Each and every section blends together beautifully and does not feel weird or out of place in anyway, even the rap sections . . which is a feat all in its self considering rap sections, when in slower songs, tend to be more difficult to seamlessly mesh together with the rest of the singing sections. This acoustic sound is very refreshing and really shows the depth and commitment B.A.P has into taking on and conquering new genre styles. I particularly like how they blended the harmonica together with the guitar in a way that was not too overpowering and annoying.
Plus the lyrics are super sweet, even if they are a bit sad:
Yongguk, Himchan, Daehyun, Youngjae, Jongup, Zelo
It’s a bit awkward but I came here by myselfTranslation via Popgasa
Among people who look so happy
I walk the streets and eat good food
Then a day passes
But not being with you still feels a bit awkward
We were always together
I miss you so much
Where are you? What are you doing? Are you well?
Because you’re not next to me, lonely lonely day
Can you hear it? Can you see it? My heart?
I hope it reaches you
I promised to come here as I tightly held your hand
Maybe it’s because I’m alone but I’m thinking of you even more
You don’t have to go
Do you sometimes think of me?
I see you every single day
I’ll probably be waking up from your dream tomorrow morning as well
I’m still . . . girl
But not being with you still feels a bit awkward
We were always together
I miss you so much
Where are you? What are you doing? Are you well?
Because you’re not next to me, lonely lonely day
Can you hear it? Can you see it? My heart?
I hope it reaches you
This street I’m walking on all alone
I’m so used to it but it’s no fun
I’m still the same as before
But I’m still so lazy without you
So whatever I do, your empty spot feels too big
I still fall asleep as I long for you
Where are you? What are you doing? Are you well?
Because you’re not next to me, lonely lonely day
Can you hear it? Can you see it? My heart?
I hope it reaches you.

Yup, its official, I absolutely love this song. However (yes there's indeed a however) I would've, liked to have heard more singing from Jongup & Himchan, poor guys only sang twice in the entire song. While Daehyun & Youngjae shared the chorus and Zelo & Yongguk had their own individual rap sections. But putting that aside . . this is definitely at the top of my current favorite releases from B.A.P at the moment. Mainly because, as I mentioned earlier, it gives you an overdose of Happy feels . . then to top everything off, the whistling is suuuuuuper catchy . . . . I'm sure it will be stuck in my head for days! even when I'm not listening to the song.
The Video
This has got to be . . . . by FAR! the most adorable MV I have seen released by a boy group from within the Hallyu-verse ever. But I have a feeling that's just the BABY in me speaking. Regardless, right away (after the newest TS Entertainment intro that is) the feel you get from this MV is one of warmth and comfort. Between the warm filter that was applied over the whole video, and the slight blurring to the edges of the video . . you can't help but get this feeling of comfort settle down around you. And that's all before the boys show up.
After watching the boys act in this video, you can really see the growth each of the members has gone through after each new music video they've filmed. I mean, the acting has always improved by leaps and bounds from video to video, but it has become much more noticeable during "1004 (Angel)" and now "어디니? 뭐하니?". Honestly I feel the only ones who are still slightly awkward in front of the camera while they're not dancing are Jongup and Yongguk . . . which sad but still true.
That being said, I feel that this video is such an awesome video, its adorable but its not the kind of over the top aegyo that I felt the desire to stop the video and watch something else. Even the following GIF didn't have nearly as much aegyo as I've seen in other guy k-group videos ::cough Boyfriend cough:: while I was surfing around the YouTube Hallyu-wave.
Seriously that scene was so totally, unexpectedly adorable . . . I had to pause the video--damn Zelo and his adorableness-- Another factor I really liked in the video was the fact that each member had significant screen time, and that focus wasn't placed solely on one member. Something that tends to happen in waaaay too many a music video here in the Hallyu-verse.
And then there's the fact that you can physically see how much the boys enjoyed themselves while filming. There are so many sections that I could choose from so I'll only highlight a few. Each of the members were all smiles, but none of them probably had the look of pure joy mixed with pride quite like Yongguk did.
You can just feeeel how proud he is of the boys. He's such an awesome leader, but I'll save that for a different post ^-^ Now, after seeing Yongguk's endearing gummy smile while he's watching everyone dance and have a good time, if you're not paying attention . . . you'll end up missing Jongup's attempt to jump over the nearby wall. He's all like--Later bitches!! I'm out!--and it cracks me up every time I watch it
Finally, my favorite scene
Oh! last min addition, the head bobbing while everyone is whistling
I bet you didn't even notice you were doing it as well, did you. It's just such a natural move. I even find myself doing it when I'm listening to the song on my iPod
So, overall . . . I adored this music video, as well as the song. It's always great to see new sides to idol groups, be it an aegyo concept or the bad ass concept. I know many people (mostly guys) will not like this particular concept, saying that B.A.P have abandoned their roots. To that I say--Shame on you! A group should be allowed to expand their musical range, and if you are a true fan you would support whatever concept they may try . . regardless on if you like said concept or not.
How did you like this new fresh concept from B.A.P? Did you love it? Hate it? or where you indifferent to it? I'd love to hear from you in the comments below.
